Work From Home Tips: Should You Brand Your Products in Network Marketing?

So your good friend invites you to a network marketing business. You like their income plans and their business support. And you tried the products too. Now, you fall in love with the products. Great! Loving the products is one of the keys to your success in this business.

Now you are ready to go – to build this great business, either full-time or part-time.

How would you get started?

With the new trend of online technology, and the most common one is none other than Facebook, you are excited to treat your business just like any online product store.

Now you start to post all about your company’s products on your social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. You are very excited, thinking to yourself: Now that my friends see my social media post about the products, I am going to have many sales coming in.

But, unfortunately, that’s not the case. None of your friends contact you about the products. Even if they do, they didn’t buy from you. You are now thinking, what’s wrong?

Well, the mistake is you have just turned your social media profiles into an advertising billboard.

You are not getting sales is because you have just turned your social media profiles into an advertising billboard. #workfromhome #homebusinesstips #networkmarketing #branding #socialmedia Click To Tweet

So, why should you NOT brand your network marketing products?

Reason #1: People buy from you because they know you, like you and trust you

If you read my previous post, network marketing is a mouth-to-mouth recommendation and human relationship business. People join you and buy from you because they know you, like you and trust you. For people to know you, like you and trust you, you need to talk about yourself, not your products.

People connect with you because they want to know your life updates on social media. No one loves to connect with an advertising billboard.

Once you start posting about the products, especially when you do it too frequently, they most probably will quietly unfollow you (without unfriend you) on your social media profiles.

Once they unfollow you, no, they won’t be seeing your posts anymore. That means they won’t be seeing your product posts either.

And now, you are still wondering why there’s little to no engagement on your product posts. The only engagement that you get are most likely from your own team, such as your uplines or downlines, in which it will not convert into sales anyway.

Reason #2: You will lost your customers to Google

Ask yourself, once you see your friends selling products on Facebook, what’s the first thing you do? Do you contact your friends directly and buy from them? I bet the chance is relatively low.

Instead, you will go to Google and do your “research”. You start seeing those negative comments about the products. Yes, on the internet, you will see many negative reviews, while some may be genuine, but it could be from the competitors or the haters that give biased opinions too.

Just take the famous and one of the top-quality sports shoes, for example, Nike is also receiving more than 60% of a bad review.

So, when your friends do their “research” on Google and come across those negative comments, no, they won’t be interested to find out more information from you.

This is how you just lost your potential customers to Google.

Reason #3: Your social media friends will buy from someone else

You are not the only one that sells particular products. You have many competitors out there.

Once your social media friends know what you are selling, they will look for a better price, without understanding from you why they should get it from you.

Cheap doesn’t mean good. Your slightly exclusive pricing definitely comes with exclusive product support and more long-term discounts too. However, you lost the chance of presenting these facts to your potential customers.

This is how you lost your potential customers.

Reason #4: You are not an influencer or a top income earner yet

Most people start out as ordinary people, without great income proof, and without fame yet.

You should only post about the products if you are already a top income earner, or you are an influencer in your niche market.

For example, if you are already owning a beauty salon and have a group of loyal customers, then yes, the method of doing the product posts on your social media can work really well.

Or, if you are already a celebrity, then yes, whatever products you are promoting, your loyal fans will buy from you.

So, before you turn your social media into an advertising billboard, ask yourself these two simple questions:

  1. Am I a top income earner in my network marketing company?
  2. Am I a celebrity or influencer?

If your answer is “no” for both questions, it’s highly recommended not to post the products frequently on your social media.
