Working outside the home creates a number of problems and dilemmas, especially for those with families.

Working parents must locate and pay for childcare, and the workload at home often becomes impossible to keep up with. Parents miss out on attending school functions and other important activities, and kids suffer as a result. This is why you should start a home-based business to overcome those dilemmas.

What Are The Benefits Of Starting  A Home-based Business?

1. Save Time

No more wasting your time on the road, and hassle through the heavy traffic jam. By working at home, you can just be as casual as you want, or even work in your pajamas! Therefore, you are also cutting down the time spent on dressing up yourself. This is especially true for ladies as they generally spend a lot more time than men to dress up themselves.

2. Save Money

Related to the above, saving commute time also means you are saving your petrol cost. In most cases, you even need to pay the monthly fee for your parking near your workplace. By starting your home-based business, it also means no more paying an additional monthly parking fee.

Wearing casual attire while working from home also means you are cutting down your spending on your attire.

By working from home allows you to eat your own simple home cook meal. Therefore, it literally cut down the cost of you eating out.

At the same time, this also means you no longer need to send your kids to a daycare center. Thus, it also helps you to save a big amount of money.

3. Flexibility

You have the flexibility of setting your own schedule. You can set your own hours and work when it’s convenient for you. This provides more free time for family activities. If you have school-age children, you’ll never again miss helping your child’s class with a party or project, and you’ll never again have to turn down the chance to do something fun with your loved ones.

Also, if your kids or any family member is sick, it’s easier to leave your home’s desk and take care of them.

Having a home-based business allows you to enjoy the freedom and flexibility you never thought you could afford.

It’s a simple principle: the harder you work, the more money you can make.

Your earning potential is directly proportional to your performance, so you don’t have to wait for a raise or a promotion.  If you want to make more money, you just need to work harder.

The best part is that there is no limit to your earning. You are the one that decides how much you want to make.

5. Less Risk

Running a business from home takes much less startup cash than a freestanding business or even a franchise location. And once your business is up and running, it’s cheaper and easier to maintain than a separate business location.

6. Job security

Have you ever been laid off, downsized, or fired?  If you have, you get this. With entrepreneurship, the security lies in the fact you are your own boss. You run the show and don’t have to worry about being laid off.

7. Pass The Legacy To Your Next Generation

If you’re a doctor, plumber or bus driver that generate active income, it’s hard to imagine you passing your career on to your loved ones. But if you own your own business that generating passive income, especially if it is home-based, that’s something you can pass on to the next generation. And be proud of it, because you created it.

How To Create A Virtual Office You Can Take Anywhere

1. Choose the Right Mobile Computer

If your work requires a computer or laptop, you will need a light and movable system that you can pick up and take with you when you leave your main office at home. In some cases, a tablet such as an Apple iPad, or a smartphone may provide enough features to help you bridge the gap between your primary home office and your virtual office.

 

When I am at home, I like to work using a laptop with a bigger screen. At the same time, I am also having an iPad and iPhone as my virtual office on the go. You can choose any tablets or smartphones to your liking as long as it can work well as a virtual office device.

2. Get a Reliable and Secure Internet Connection

You can’t run a business these days without an Internet connection. While free Wi-Fi hotspots are available in some places, it is not advisable because free access points are typically not reliable enough for business work. And secondly, Wi-Fi hotspots are not secure. Using one with a business computer can put your data at risk.
You can purchase the device and data plan from your mobile phone service provider, or from a company that offers pre-paid or pay-as-you-go wireless access. Whichever option you choose, make sure you protect your data by using an encrypted password.

3. Make Your Data Accessible

If you have multiple devices (a desktop or laptop for primary home office and a tablet or smartphone for mobile working, for example), you will need a way to share files between your devices. The best option is using an online backup service that will automatically backup and synchronize your data across multiple devices. An online backup service makes it easy to access data from anywhere, either at your home office or your virtual office on the go. And even if you have just one main computer, this is a great way to ensure consistent backup and accessibility of your data in case of a system crash.
There are many online backup service providers available. Personally, I love to use pCloud due to the free 10GB space upon register for the account. At the time of writing this post, you can have up to 20GB of free space when you recommend pCloud to your friends. I use pCloud to store my business documents and synchronize them for easy access at all times. This literally helps me to run my business easily on the road.
